Salif Keita (born October 19, 1975 in Dakar ) is a former Senegalese - Belgian football player on the position of a striker .

society

He left his native Senegal at the age of 15 to play football in Belgium . There he was the top scorer in the second division at FC Capellen and later national cup winner with KRC Genk . He also took Belgian citizenship.

In 1999 he moved to Germany for the second division Hannover 96 , for whom he scored eight goals in 48 games. After the 96ers were promoted to the first Bundesliga in 2002, Keita left the club and played for the second division club 1. FC Union Berlin for two years . After another year in the second division at Rot-Weiß Oberhausen , Keita finally moved to the Regionalliga Süd for TuS Koblenz in 2005 , for which he scored 15 goals in 32 regional division games and thus made a decisive contribution to promotion to the second division. In the 2006/07 season, Keita was not very successful (17 games, no goal) and was often not in the squad. At the end of the 2006/07 season, Keita received an offer from the regional league team Union Berlin, where he had been a player from 2002 to 2004. However, he refused and was initially without a club. In December 2007 he signed for one year with the Greek second division club Pierikos Katerini .

In 2008 he switched to the Cypriot second division team Olympiakos Nicosia . In December 2008 he moved to the first division club APEP Kyperounda , where he was under contract until the end of the 2008/2009 season. In the summer of 2009, Keita took part in the training of the Association of Contract Footballers in Germany in order to make herself interesting for new clubs. A short time later he signed a contract with AS Douanes in his native Senegal . Here he played until the end of the 2010 season and then ended his career.
