Salmo akairos is a species from the family of salmon fish (salmonids), which is endemic in the Ifni Lake in the Toubkal National Park in the Moroccan High Atlas occurs.

features

Salmo akairos remains relatively small with a maximum body length of 18 centimeters. There are no dark spots on the body. The dorsal and anal fin show conspicuously black and white front edges. The dorsal fin has 16 soft rays that are supported by 14 to 16 fin bearers, the anal fin 12 or 13 soft rays. There are 56 to 58 vertebrae and 19 to 23 gill spines .

Way of life

The species feeds on arthropods , especially on hoppers ( Cyclops ), on filamentous algae and diatoms .
