The pure white flowered sage ( Salvia candidissima ) is a species of the genus sage (Salvia) in the mint family (Lamiaceae).

features

The pure white-flowered sage is a perennial , herbaceous plant that reaches heights of up to 60, rarely up to 90 centimeters. The stem is often yellowish green. The bracts of the Scheinquirle are up to 1/3 as long as the calyx. The tips of the two lateral sepals and the upper lip of the calyx incline together. The crown is 20 to 30 millimeters long and has a few purple spots at the base of the lower lip.

The flowering period extends from June to July.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 22.

Occurrence

The species occurs in Albania , western Greece , Turkey , Iraq and Iran on rocky corridors.

The pure white flowered sage is rarely used as an ornamental plant in perennial beds and alpine houses.
