Salzburg - In the shadow of the rocks is a 2006 co-production with ORF resulting documentation of Georg Riha over the city of Salzburg .
content
The film begins with a tracking shot from the Hohensalzburg Fortress down to the “ Jedermann ” stage on Salzburg Cathedral Square as the starting point for a filmic “city tour”. The various sides of the city of Salzburg , historically, geographically, art-historical and architecturally, are shown in short sequences in a large thematic framework of the seasons . The narrator - in the German version Peter Simonischek - explains the pictures and guides them from one sight to the next. The theme of “stone”, which defines the city, runs like a red thread through the film. a. for example the fortress on the mountain, the catacombs from the 3rd century AD, the Untersberg marble (a limestone ), the rock riding school or the special profession of the " mountain cleaner " special mention.
Camera technology
By Georg Riha a number were used at special camera techniques for this documentation.
Georg Riha's aerial shots serve as connecting elements in the film. Thanks to a gyro-stabilized camera head, which is attached to a helicopter, the camera is protected from vibrations or these are compensated for. Therefore the recordings are almost vibration-free and convey the feeling of weightless gliding.
The use of time-lapse cameras made it possible to illustrate slow events, such as the change of the seasons.
The use of a CAMCAT cable camera made it possible to show Salzburg and its sights from unusual angles. An example of this is the beginning of the film, which leads the viewer in a continuous tracking shot ( one shot ) from the “Jedermannruf” on the Hohensalzburg Fortress down to the Jedermann presentation on Domplatz.
