Salzburg State Anthem

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Salzburg national anthem (Land uns'rer Fathers) was written by the priest Anton Pichler and set to music by the composer Ernst Sompek . It was performed for the first time on May 15, 1928 by the student choir of the St. Andrä boys' elementary school. On May 24, 1928, the Salzburg state parliament declared this hymn the official state anthem.

Far better known (and more popular) than the Salzburg national anthem is the song “Mei Hoamat, mei Salzburg” by Otto Pflanzl (text) and Julius Welser (music). Often the coming Rainer Marsch by Hans Schmid one of the national anthem to similar function.

Land of our fathers

1.
Land of our fathers, let us greet you cheerfully,
Garden guarded by everlasting snow,
dreaming at the feet of darkening woods
peaceful villages by the sunny lake.
Whether the hammers stir on the forge
or the annoying hand on the plow,
|: Land of our fathers, you cheer:
Salzburg, o Salzburg, you homeland! : |
2.
As if from the ring's golden hoop
sparkles the demant, the miracle stone,
greets from the green strip of the hill
Salzburg, the festivities in the morning light.
And when the bells begin the dance
from the towers of the past
|: walks through lonely street senses
Mozart and his immortality. : |
3.
Should we flood the countries of the world
none can, oh home, you will be the same.
You are mother and cradle only to all of us,
Salzburg, you gem of Austria.
Clod of fathers, listen, we vow
faithfully to guard the children as a pledge!
|: You , who up there in eternal heights,
Spread your hands and shield this land! : |
