Dachstein song
Dachsteinlied (high from the Dachstein) is the title of the Styrian national anthem.
Emergence
The ten-verse song was written for the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Agricultural Society (founded in 1819 by Archduke Johann ) on October 16, 1844. This song was heard on June 15, 1904 when Otto Nussbaumer started up his first wireless experimental radio system at the Graz University of Technology . On July 3, 1929, stanzas 1, 2, 3 and 10 were declared the Styrian national anthem by the state parliament.
The melody was also used in other regions for popular songs, e.g. B. in Tyrol ( high in the Ötztal drob'n, where Gamsbock stands there ), Switzerland ( high from Gentis, where the Aar still lives, to the bed where the Abone brews , 1845), in Germany ( Von des Rheines Beach where the vine blooms, to the Vistula, which moves north , Karl von Niebusch (Karl Schneider), from 1844 and 1849), in Northern Germany ( From the Baltic Sea beach where the seagull moves ) or in Flanders ( Kent gy wel hed land, waer de vryheid woont , no later than 1848). The song "Mein Österreich" by W. Wenhart also uses the melody (high from the Erzgebirge, where the miner lives, to the karst area on the beach) .
The Dachstein song is also used in the trio of the “9er Alpenjäger March” by Rudolf Kummerer . The first bar "Hoch vom Dachstein an ..." is also used in an instrumental version as the announcement melody of the stop announcements by Holding Graz Linien .

Current developments
In 2004, among other things because of Slovenia joining the EU , in which Lower Styria is now located, the text was called into question, since Styria as a political unit had not extended to the Sav (= Save ) and the Drav since November 1918 (= Drau ) is enough. New versions of the text were proposed for the first stanza, but the suggestion was also made to look for a new national anthem at all. After all, the national anthem was not changed.
