The salt furnace is a 2070 m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Styrian part of the Dead Mountains . The western flank slopes down to the basin of the Dreibrüdersee with moderately sloping turf slopes . The east side forms a vertical steep wall around 1 km in length from Ablasbühel to Elmgrube. This steep face is somewhat wavy, but is entirely called the east face. A large rubble field moves up to the southern part, a smaller one to the northern part. Are located in the east wall climbing routes up to the V. difficulty . The salt furnace cave is located near the summit .
