Samuel James "Sam" Williamson (born October 15, 1987 in Macclesfield ) is a former English football player .

Career

Williamson went through the youth teams of Manchester City since he was nine years old and stood with the youth team in the 2006 final of the FA Youth Cup , which was lost to the offspring of Liverpool FC . In July 2006, he and his teammates Laurence Matthewson , Shaleum Logan , Michael Johnson and Kelvin Etuhu received their first professional contracts. Williamson had to wait almost two years for his competitive debut for the professional team. On April 20, 2008 he was substituted on in the Premier League match against Portsmouth FC after 56 minutes by Sven-Göran Eriksson for the injured Richard Dunne . This was his only use for Manchester City, in late November 2008 he was brought on loan from Dean Saunders to Wrexham FC in the Football Conference . Williamson was able to convince as a left full-back and moved to Wrexham FC on a free transfer at the turn of the year.

Wrexham missed in the 2008/09 season with Williamson as a regular player, the targeted promotion to the Football League Two clearly. After a groin operation at the beginning of the 2009/10 season, Williamson was unable to make the leap into the regular team and only made two appearances over the course of the season. On March 31, 2010 he was therefore awarded for the remainder of the season in the Conference South to the promotion candidate Fleetwood Town . He came to four missions during his loan period, in the promotion play-offs, in which Fleetwood successfully prevailed, but he was not used. At the end of the season Williamson was one of those eleven Wrexham players who were not offered a new contract for the following season.
