Samael Aun Weor

Samael Aun Weor (born March 6, 1917 in Bogotá , Colombia; † December 24, 1977 ) was the founder of a modern esoteric movement that understood itself as the " Gnostic Movement" or Filosofia Perenne y Universal ("the eternal and universal philosophy"). He and his followers regard him as the "Buddha Maitreya Kalki Avatara of the new Aquarian age", as a modern philosopher , anthropologist , psychologist and describe his teaching as the "doctrine of synthesis" of all religions, cultures and mysteries .

In 1950 his first book was published under the title The Perfect Marriage or the Gateway to Initiation with the secret to awakening Kundalini and occult powers. Today his works are distributed internationally.

Life's work

Until his death in 1977 Samael Aun Weor wrote more than 70 books and gave numerous lectures on Gnostic esoterism. In these works the author gives instructions on how to awaken what he believes are latent occult forces in man in order to achieve the revolution of consciousness and the inner self-realization of being. The word "Gnosis" means "knowledge". According to the author, this knowledge is as old as humanity itself.

Teaching

Samael Aun Weor describes that about 2000 years ago Jesus Christ secretly taught his disciples the "Gnosis". Even before Christ there were other great sages who taught the same knowledge, such as B. Gautama Buddha in India or Quetzalcoatl in ancient Mexico.

According to his teaching, the real gnosis is not the exclusive property of this or that religion, but a completely neutral functionalism of consciousness , and every person with a searching spirit who begins the path of self-conquest will inevitably have it one day.

He describes that divine forces are latently present in every human being, waiting for the moment of their awakening, for example from the “third eye”, the “third ear”, the “ telepathy ”, the “memory of previous lives”, the “ Divine intuition ”, from“ conscious journeys of the soul into the astral world ”, from the“ divine Kundalini snake ”. In his books he passes on ethical and moral perspectives on the subject of the “science of sexuality”.

Samael Aun Weor also emphasizes in his works that real knowledge can only be gained through direct self-awareness . He describes numerous practical exercises in detail in his works.

His book Cosmic Ships , published in 1955, is considered to be one of the first publications of UFO belief .

Aspects of his message

Samael Aun Weor gives three so-called "factors for the revolution of consciousness" in his works:

1. The elimination of psychological defects: anger , avarice , pride , laziness, envy , lust , gluttony , bad will, negative thoughts, low emotions, etc.

2. The Sexual Mysteries: This means the wise use of sexual energy through the secret keys of sexuality .

3. Sacrifice for humanity: This means helping people selflessly, with real love, especially in a spiritual way, without asking for money or expecting anything in return.

The author describes how one can free oneself from ignorance, illness, pain and even death through these three factors of the revolution of consciousness .

In his presentations and explanations he emphatically points out what the most important goal of human existence is: to eliminate the psychological defects in human consciousness and thereby to achieve inner self-realization and the final liberation from suffering and the “wheel of samsara ”.

According to his teaching, this "gnosis" is a union of the Orient with the Occident , the knowledge of Buddha with the knowledge of Christ, a unveiled and esoteric experience of Buddhism and Christianism, and whoever really lives this teaching incarnates the inner Buddha and the inner Christ and free yourself from all chains in this world.

His main work El Matrimonio Perfecto ("The Perfect Marriage") deals in particular with the elimination of psychological defects in humans and with the sexual mysteries and contains instructions in simple and direct language for their application.

Samael Aun Weor published his publications between 1950 and 1977. His wish was that his books would be sold cheaply so that the poor could also buy them. He never asked for author rights or royalties and never authorized anyone to claim them. In a Gnostic congress in Guadalajara, Mexico in 1976, he publicly renounced this and did not appoint any "successors to his work". His books have been translated into other languages such as English, French, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese and some of his works have also been translated into German.
