Samantha: An American Girl Holiday is an American film drama from the year 2004 , which directed by Nadia Tass was filmed. The film is based on a book by Valerie Tripp . It was the first in the series of American Girl films and the film debut of leading actress AnnaSophia Robb .
The film has not yet been released in Germany. When it was first broadcast on pay TV at Premiere 1 on April 16, 2006, the film was titled Samantha - A New Life in New York .
action
Samantha is a girl who grew up in the early 20th century. She grows up with her grandmother because her parents have passed away. She is expected to act like a lady. One day new servants arrive in the neighboring house, a father and his three daughters. Samantha quickly befriends Nellie, the oldest. But one day Samantha's uncle takes her to New York. Nellie's father dies and she disappears with her two sisters in an orphanage. Samantha is determined to find Nellie and help her.
Awards
At the Young Artist Awards 2005, Olivia Ballantyne received the award for Best Supporting Actress in a TV Movie, Miniseries or Special. The film and the leading actress AnnaSophia Robb were each nominated, but received no award.
