Sami Hinkka (born April 27, 1978 in Finland ) is a Finnish bass player and singer , who is best known for his activity with the Finnish folk metal band Ensiferum .

biography

Musically, Hinkka was heavily influenced by his older brothers. They heard bands like AC / DC , Iron Maiden , Metallica and King Diamond , so that Hinkka practically grew up with the music. In 2004 he joined the Finnish folk metal band Ensiferum as bassist and replaced Jukka-Pekka Miettinen, who had left the band due to lack of time. Hinkka initially acted as bass player in both bands, but decided to leave Rapture in 2006 and to concentrate only on Ensiferum from now on.

In addition to playing the bass, Hinkka has been responsible for most of the lyrics at Ensiferum since Victory Songs and works as a background singer together with guitarist Markus Toivonen. On the Russia tour in 2008, Hinkka Petri replaced Lindroos as lead singer, as he was unable to perform due to illness.
