Samo Tomášik

Samo Tomášik (born February 8, 1813 in Jelšavská Teplica, Kingdom of Hungary , today part of Gemerské Teplice , Slovakia ; † September 10, 1887 in Chyžné , Austria-Hungary ) was a Slovak poet and writer, best known for his song Hej, Slováci (Hey, Slovaks), which later became the hymn of the Pan-Slavic movement in the modified form Hej Sloveni (Hey, Slavs) .
