Samson was an English rock band formed in 1977 by guitarist and singer Paul Samson . The band was one of the pioneering bands of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal .
history
After their debut album Survivors in 1979, when Samson still sang, Bruce Dickinson joined the band under the stage name Bruce Bruce. After 1981 Dickinson left the band and became a singer with Iron Maiden . His successor was Nicky Moore, who remained loyal to the end of the band.
Other members of the band were bassist Chris Aylmer and drummer Barry Graham (stage name: Thunderstick ). Graham had an elaborate stage show, so he appeared with a leather mask and played in a cage. On "Before The Storm" 1982, Pete Jupp drummed.
The band continued to record regularly after Dickinson's departure and toured occasionally. With the death of founder Paul Samson on August 9, 2002 due to cancer , the band broke up.
Bassist Chris Aylmer died on January 9, 2007 of cancer of the throat . He is said to have had the idea of the band name.
