Clive Burr

Clive Burr (March 8, 1957 - March 12, 2013 ) was a British musician . From 1980 to 1982 he was the drummer for the heavy metal band Iron Maiden .

Career

Burr played on the debut album Iron Maiden (1980), as well as on Killers (1981) and The Number of the Beast (1982). After the internationally successful "The Beast on the Road" tour, he was replaced by Nicko McBrain due to alcohol and drug problems .

Before Iron Maiden, Clive Burr was a member of the NWoBHM band Samson . In 1983 he joined Nicko McBrain's former band Trust . He then founded Escape and shortly afterwards Stratus . With the latter band released the album Throwing Shapes in 1984 .

In 1985 he was a member of the supergroup Gogmagog , founded by Jonathan King, and it was here that he met his former Iron Maiden bandmate Paul Di'Anno . In 1987, the later Asia singer John Payne founded his own band under the name The Passion . Payne hired Clive Burr, the band also consisted of keyboardist Andy Nye (from the Michael Schenker Group ), bassist Mel Gabbitas and ex- Mike Oldfield guitarist Ant Glynne .

In 1988 he was a member of the band Elixir . He then played with Dee Snider in Desperado and released the album Bloodied, But Unbowed with this band . In 1995 he went on tour with Praying Mantis because their drummer Bruce Bisland broke his hand.

Clive Burr had multiple sclerosis (MS). He then established the Clive Burr MS Trust Fund , a foundation dedicated to the fight against MS. Iron Maiden gave several benefit concerts for him, the last one on June 24, 2007. Burr died on the night of March 12th and 13th, 2013.
