Life

Janick Gers now forms the guitar trio of the British heavy metal band Iron Maiden together with Adrian Smith and Dave Murray . Before that, he had a number of engagements, such as B. at White Spirit or at Gillan , the band of the Deep Purple front man Ian Gillan .

In 1985 he was active in the short-lived Gogmagog project with former members of Iron Maiden, Paul Di'Anno and Clive Burr . This was brought to life by Jonathan King, who also gave the band Genesis their name and produced their debut album From Genesis to Revelation . Originally conceived as a rock opera, the project did not come out on the status of a 3-song EP and was dissolved again.

The year 1989 represented the first major creative break in the history of Iron Maiden. During this time, singer Bruce Dickinson devoted himself to his first solo activities, triggered by the offer, for the horror film Nightmare on Elm Street 5 - The Trauma a soundtrack - Bring Your Daughter ... to the Slaughter - to be able to contribute. Janick Gers joined the solo project as a permanent guitarist with the recording of the song and, together with Bruce Dickinson, composed almost all of the songs that were used on his first solo album, Tattooed Millionaire . Bring Your Daughter ... to the Slaughter himself he re-recorded shortly afterwards with Iron Maiden for their album No Prayer for the Dying , after he had joined the band in early 1990 to replace Adrian Smith after his departure.

After initial difficulties, he was able to integrate into the band. He impressed fans with musical interludes and wrote songs such as Be Quick Or Be Dead (on the album Fear of the Dark ), Virus (on Best of the Beast , to this day the only song of the band that was written jointly by two guitarists) , The Mercenary and Ghost Of The Navigator (both on the album Brave New World ), the title track of the album Dance of Death , and the track The Legacy on the album A Matter of Life and Death .
