Samuel Thörl

Samuel Thörl (born May 12, 1755 in Dannenberg ; † September 10, 1830 in Celle ) was a German Lutheran theologian , author and archdeacon .

Samuel Thörl was a son of the Dannenberg dyer Elias D. Thörl. He studied at the University of Göttingen and in 1781 received the position of preacher at the Church of St. Nicolai in Verden , was promoted to third deacon in 1788, then second deacon in 1805 and archdeacon in 1807 . He has had several of his sermons published in print. For example, it said in the magazine “Zellescher Anzeiger plus articles” on June 24, 1818: “For sale. / Cell. GEF Schulze an der Stechbahn has published: / The sermon of Archdiaconus Thörl on the day of the execution of two wrongdoers, and accompanied by the story of the murder committed; and both from himself and from the bookbinder Pickhard on the market, stapled to receive three ggr. conventions = coins. "

Thörl was one of the collaborators of the work The learned Hanover or Lexicon edited by Heinrich Wilhelm Rotermund of writers, learned businessmen and artists who have lived in and outside of the provinces belonging to the Kingdom of Hanover since the Reformation .

The Cellesche Zeitung published Thörl's diary published by Rauterberg in April 1892 .

His grave slab on the eastern part of the Hehlentorfriedhof in Celle bears the inscription for Dorothea Sophie Margaretha Thörl, née Mestwerdt (January 31, 1704 - May 3, 1835) in addition to his own dates.
