Choix , also San Ignacio de Choix , is a city with about 9000 inhabitants in the municipality of Choix in the Mexican state of Sinaloa . Choix is close to the Chihuahua and Sonora border . It is located on the Río Zuaque in the traditional settlement area of the Tzoes - Cahita . Francisco de Ibarra was the first European to arrive in the region in 1564, followed by the Jesuits in 1591 .
