San Isidro de Anfaya is a town in the Chuquisaca department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
San Isidro de Anfaya is the second largest town in the canton of Yotala in the municipality of Yotala in the province of Oropeza . The village is located at an altitude of 3063 m in the source area of the Río Chullqui Mayu, which flows into the Río Pilcomayo after about fifteen kilometers .

San Isidro de Anfaya is located between the Bolivian Altiplano in the west and the Cordillera Central in the east. The climate of the region is a typical time of day climate , in which the temperature fluctuations during the day are greater than during the year.
The annual average temperature in the region is around 17 ° C (see Betanzo's climate diagram), the monthly values fluctuate only slightly between 14 ° C in June / July and 19 ° C from November to January. The annual rainfall is almost 500 mm, the months May to September are arid with monthly values below 15 mm, only in January a rainfall of 100 mm is reached.
Transport network
San Isidro de Anfaya is 35 kilometers by road south of Sucre , the capital of the department.
The 900-kilometer Ruta 5 highway runs through Sucre and leads from the Bolivian lowlands via Sucre and Potosí to the Chilean border in the west. Coming from Potosí in the direction of Sucre, the road crosses the Río Pilcomayo at Viña Pampa , and then follows the Río Santa Rosalia for eighteen kilometers and then the Río Pulqui upstream past the village of Pulki to the top of the pass. There, a dirt road branches off to the west from Ruta 5 and after another six kilometers reaches San Isidro de Anfaya .

Due to the historically grown population development, the region has a high proportion of Quechua population, in the Municipio Yotala 94.2 percent of the population speak the Quechua language.
