San Juan de los Morros is the capital of the Guárico state in Venezuela .

history

San Juan de los Morros was founded on May 26, 1780 and originally belonged to the state of Aragua . Around 1930 the borders were moved and the city belonged to the state of Guàrico, whose capital it later became, replacing Calabozo .

geography

San Juan de los Morros is surrounded by mountains, whereas the rest of the state is very flat. The climate is strongly influenced by the mountains. The temperature fluctuates between 24 and 32 degrees Celsius over the year.

A national road connects San Juan de los Morros with Parapara .

Attractions

One of the main attractions is the 40 m high statue of San Juan Bautista , inaugurated in 1934. Also worth seeing are the Universidad Nacional Experimental “Rómulo Gallegos” and the two natural monuments Monumento Natural Arístides Rojas and Monumento Natural Juan Germán Roscio .

San Juan de los Morros is famous for its medicinal sulfur springs . The city is considered a health resort and many tourists visit the city. In addition to tourism, there is mainly the food and wood processing industries.
