Sandrine Salerno (* 1971 in Geneva ) is a Swiss politician ( SP ). From June 1, 2013 to May 31, 2014 she was mayor of Geneva ( French Maire de Genève ). She held this office from 2010 to 2011.

Sandrine Salerno studied political science and public administration at the University of Geneva . From 1995 to 1997 she was deputy head of the human rights program of the Center Europe-Tiers Monde , from 1997 to 2001 coordinator at the Center de Contact Suisse-Immigrés , then until 2006 research assistant at the University of Geneva. From 2006 to 2007 she worked in the Education Department of the Canton of Geneva .

In 1999 Sandrine Salerno was elected to the municipal council ( French Conseil municipal ) of the city of Geneva for the SP . From 2006 to 2007 she was also President of the City of Geneva Social Democratic Party. In 2007 she was elected to the city government (Conseil administratif) , where she took over the housing and finance department (DFL). She is only the fourth woman to be elected to a government in Geneva. From June 1, 2010, she spent a year City President and held from 1 June 2013 to 31 May 2014 for the second time this office.

Sandrine Salerno is the mother of two children.
