The Eyâlet Herzegovina ( Ottoman ایالت هرسك İA Eyālet-i Hersek ), also Paschalik of Herzegovina, was an Eyâlet or Paschalik of the Ottoman Empire from 1833 to 1851 . Mostar was the capital last .

history

The Paschalik of Herzegovina was founded in 1833. It emerged from the sanjak of Herzegovina . Ali Pasha Rizvanbegović , a native of Herzegovina, became the semi-independent vizier of the new paschalik. After his death in 1851 the Paschalik Herzegovina was dissolved and the Paschalik Bosnia was added. In 1864, Herzegovina was split off again as Vilâyet Herzegovina ( Hersek Vilâyeti ). This was occupied by Austria-Hungary together with Bosnia in 1878 and both annexed in 1908 , creating today's Bosnia and Herzegovina .

Administrative division

The Paschalik of Herzegovina consisted of the following districts: Prijepolje , Taslidža with Kolašin and Šaranci with Drobnjak , Čajniče , Nevesinje , Nikšić , Ljubinje - Trebinje , Stolac , Počitelj , Blagaj , Mostar , Duvno and half of the district with the southern part of Konjic Neretva .
