The St. Mauritius Chapel is a mountain chapel located on the summit plateau of the Moritzberg . Moritzberg is a district of Röthenbach an der Pegnitz in the Middle Franconian district of Nürnberger Land ( Bavaria )

history

The chapel was built in 1419 by the Nuremberg patrician Herdegen Valzner . After its completion, it was dedicated to Saint Mauritius . The chapel is also called the Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Moritz and is listed as a monument D-5-74-152-20 .

The choir tower church was extended to the west in 1707/08. The nave has a wooden barrel vault from the 18th / 19th century. Century.

The owner of the chapel, Bolko von Oetinger , received the monument protection medal of the Free State of Bavaria in 2015 for the exemplary renovation of the monument.
