The Sankt-Remigius-Kapelle , also known as the Wurmlinger Kapelle , on the Kapellenberg (approx.  474.4  m above sea  level ; also called Wurmlinger Berg ) near Wurmlingen in the Baden-Württemberg district of Tübingen is a popular excursion and pilgrimage destination. The previous Romanesque building was built in 1050 during the tenure of Pope Leo IX. Erected there as the burial chapel of the founder, Count Anselm von Calw . The Romanesque crypt dates from around 1150. The GothicThe successor building burned down in 1644. The baroque chapel, which has been preserved to this day , was consecrated in 1685. In 1911, the art and church painter Carl Dehner painted the chapel.

From the village of Wurmlingen, located at the foot of the mountain, a way of the cross, built in 1687, leads up to the chapel about 130 m higher. The Wurmlingen cemetery is located around the chapel dedicated to St. Remigius .

For Ludwig Uhland, the chapel was the inspiration for the poem Die Kapelle . The Austrian writer Nikolaus Lenau was also inspired to write his poem Die Wurmlinger Kapelle in 1832 .

The mountain chapel is usually open on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from May to October when the weather is nice. At other times, the key can be borrowed from the Catholic rectory in Wurmlingen.

According to legend, Count Anselm von Calw is said to have ordered that after his death he should be placed on a wagon that was to be pulled by two oxen. His burial chapel should be built where they stopped. There are similar legends about the founding of churches and monasteries in other places, these are supposed to represent the special sanctity of the place, but rather served to Christianize previously pagan places of worship.
