Saint Petersburg Lions was a professional basketball team from Saint Petersburg , Russia .

As a result of the separation of the leagues and leading clubs organized in the ULEB from the competitions of FIBA Europe , the team was founded in 2000 by an Italian businessman. But since the Russian association with its clubs did not join the separation, the team could not compete in the highest national leagues and only played in the European club competition ULEB Euroleague 2000/01 , in which after only two wins in ten preliminary round games, they did not make the round of Reached 16 best teams. Subsequently, FIBA Europe discontinued its competitive Suproleague competition and with the participation of the other leading Russian teams that ousted the Lions from the Euroleague, the team was disbanded after just one year.
