Santa Cruz de Bravo is a place in the Mexican state of Oaxaca , located in the Silacayoapam district in the Mixteca region . Santa Cruz de Bravo has 364 inhabitants in 109 households (2010 census) and is the only settlement in the municipality of Santa Cruz de Bravo of the same name ( INEGI -Nr. 20376) and thus also its main town.
geography
Santa Cruz de Bravo is located in the northwest of the state. The municipality is located in the catchment area of the Río Balsas at an altitude between 1400 m and 2300 m in the Sierra Madre del Sur and is counted as part of the physiographic sub-province of the southern coastal cordillera. The geology of the municipality is shaped by volcanoclastic rocks, the soil type in the municipality is the Leptosol . A good 60% of the municipality is covered by oak forests.
Santa Cruz de Bravo borders the Municipios Silacayoápam , Santiago Yucuyachi and Calihualá .
history
Santa Cruz de Bravo was founded as Rancho Santa Cruz in the late 19th century . According to oral tradition, the municipality was founded at the beginning of the 20th century.
Since 2000, when the village of La Raya was added to the neighboring municipality of Calihualá, the municipality has only consisted of one place.
