Santa Maria da Devesa is a municipality ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district ( concelho ) of Castelo de Vide . 1578 inhabitants live in it on an area of 56 km² (as of June 30, 2011).
It is the most important municipality of the small town ( Vila ) Castelo de Vide and covers large parts of the urban area and parts of the surrounding area. Many of the most important buildings and sights of Castelo de Vides are therefore in the area of the municipality of Santa Maria da Devesa, including various prehistoric antas and buildings from the Portuguese Jewish history of the place (see also Rede de Judiarias , to which Castelo de Vide belongs).
