Santa Rosa de Lima is a town in the department of Cochabamba in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Santa Rosa is the second largest town in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Arbieto in the province of Esteban Arce on the 490 km² fertile plateau of the Valle Alto . The village is located at an altitude of 2711  m about four kilometers southeast of the La Angostura reservoir .

Santa Rosa is located in the transition area between the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Central and the Bolivian lowlands.

The mean average temperature of the region is around 18 ° C (see climate diagram Cochabamba) and fluctuates only slightly between 14 ° C in June / July and 20 ° C in October / November. The annual precipitation is only around 450 mm, with a pronounced dry season from May to September with monthly precipitation below 10 mm, and a humidity period from December to February with 90 to 120 mm monthly precipitation.

Transport network

Santa Rosa is located 31 kilometers by road southeast of Cochabamba , the capital of the department of the same name.

From Cochabamba, the asphalted highway Ruta 7 leads in a south-easterly direction 18 kilometers to the La Angostura dam and from there another nine kilometers to the east to the junction "Salida Tarata". From there, an asphalt country road leads two kilometers south to Achimoco , and from there an unpaved side road another two kilometers west to Santa Rosa de Lima .

Due to the historically grown population distribution, the region has a high proportion of Quechua population, in the Municipio Arbieto 92.4 percent of the population speak the Quechua language.
