Esteban Arce (also: Esteban Arze ) is a province in the southern part of the Cochabamba department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia . It bears its name in honor of General Esteban Arce , who at the beginning of the 19th century played a key role in the Bolivian struggle for independence against the Spanish colonial power.

location

The province is one of sixteen provinces in the department of Cochabamba. It borders in the west with the province of Capinota , in the southwest with the department Potosí , in the southeast with the province Mizque , in the east with the province Punata , in the northeast with the province Germán Jordán , and in the north with the province Chapare and the province Cercado .

The province extends approximately between 17 ° 30 'and 18 ° 00' south latitude and 66 ° 09 'and 66 ° 36' west longitude, its extension from west to east is 40 kilometers, from north to south 55 kilometers.
