Sarah Louise Rung (born October 8, 1989 in Stavanger ) is a Norwegian swimmer who trains at Madla Svømmeklubb in Stavanger.

Rung has been paraplegic since 2008 as a result of a failed back operation at Haukeland University Hospital in Bergen . In 2010 she won a silver medal in the 100 m freestyle and three gold medals in the 50 m butterfly and 200 m freestyle as well as in a new world record time (class SB 4) of 1: 52.64 min over 100 m chest at the World Swimming Championships for the disabled in Eindhoven, the Netherlands . She set a new Norwegian national record in all four disciplines.

At the IPC European Swimming Championships 2011 in Berlin, she won the title over 200 m medley and in a new world record time of 1: 48.42 minutes over 100 m breaststroke.

During her first participation in the Paralympics 2012 in London, the swimmer won two gold medals in the 50 m butterfly and 200 m freestyle and two silver medals in the 200 m medley and 100 m chest. In the same year she was the first disabled athlete to be honored with the Aftenposten gold medal.

At the Sports Gala (Idrettsgallaen) of the Norwegian Sports Federation , Rung was named Disabled Athlete of the Year (Årets kvinnelige funksjonshemmede idrettsutøver) in Hamar in 2011 and 2012 . In addition to the Disabled Athlete of the Year category , she has been nominated for the second time in a row in the main category Sportsman of the Year (Årets navn) for the 2013 Sports Gala .
