Sarah Pink

Sarah Pink (born April 12, 1966 ) is a British social scientist and social anthropologist .

Pink earned a Master of Arts (MA) in Visual Anthropology at the University of Manchester and a doctoral degree ( Ph.D. ) in social anthropology at the University of Kent in the United Kingdom (UK) .

In her book, Women and Bullfighting (translated: Women and bullfighting ), treated 1,997 gender ideologies based on the controversy surrounding female bullfighters . She described the traditional Andalusian bullfight and the roles of women, also as mothers of bullfighters and as spectators, as a multifaceted socio-cultural phenomenon in constant change.

From 2010 to 2011 she was visiting professor at the Open University of Catalonia in Barcelona , Spain . Since 2012 Sarah Pink has headed the research center for digital ethnography at RMIT University in Melbourne , Australia , and is there “Distinguished Professor” for design and media ethnography .

She is visiting professor for social science at Loughborough University in Leicestershire (UK), where she previously held a full position, as well as visiting professor for digital ethnography at FU Berlin in Germany (as of 2017).

Pink deals with a wide range of topics and works in an interdisciplinary manner, for example on visual methods in ethnographic field research, digital media , everyday life , consumption , autonomous driving , Cittàslow and sustainability .
