Savio Antonio Ferreira Vaz

Savio Antonio Ferreira Vaz SAC (born April 5, 1966 in Cortalim , Goa , India ) is an Indian theologian .

Life

Ferreira Vaz comes from a family of Goa Catholics . From 1971 to 1983 he attended St. Laurenco School , Agacaim and Regina Mundi High School , Chicalim (Goa). After graduating from high school (1983–1985) at St. Xavier's College, Kerala , he studied philosophy at the Pallotti Institute of Philosophy and Religion (Goa) from 1985 to 1987 . In Bangalore he completed the novitiate from 1987 to 1988 . He obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature from Nagpur University in 1991 and studied Catholic theology at St. Charles Seminary in Nagpur from 1991 to 1995 . After being ordained a priest in Goa in 1995, he headed the Junior Seminary, Vijayawada as Regens from 1995 to 1997 , where he taught religion, English and ethics. From 1997 to 1999 he was the parish administrator of the parish of St. Sebastian, Tormas in the Archdiocese of Goa . In the winter semester of 2000 he studied at the University of Bonn . From 2004 to 2006 he was subsidiary in Königswinter and chaplain for Cellitinnen- Kloster Heisterbach. After receiving his doctorate in moral theology with Gerhard Höver at the University of Bonn in December 2006 , he carried out research on Christianity and family culture at the Central Institute for Family Research in Eichstätt and Freiburg from 2007 to 2010 . In 2010 he was a student chaplain at the PTH Vallendar , where he lectured on moral theology in 2011. In 2012 he was Regens at the PTH Vallendar and worked priestly in the Augst . After completing his habilitation (2013) in moral theology with Eberhard Schockenhoff at the University of Freiburg , he has been professor for moral theology at the PTH Vallendar since 2014.

His main research interests are marriage and family, fundamental morality and current areas of conflict in bio and medical ethics.
