The Philosophical-Theological University Vallendar , PTHV for short , actually Philosophical-Theological University Vallendar Church and state-recognized independent scientific university , in Vallendar is a church and state-recognized university and Roman Catholic private university .

overview

The forerunner of today's university was a "theological educational institution" founded in 1896, which was initially located in Koblenz-Ehrenbreitstein (1896/97), in Limburg (from 1898) and as the theological university in Vallendar near Koblenz (from 1945). Founder of the University was the religious community of the Pallottines .

In 1979 it was constituted as a state-recognized, independent, independent academic university. By decree of the Congregation for Catholic Education of October 7, 1993, the university was elevated to a theological faculty with the degrees of diploma, licentiate, doctorate and habilitation (from 1996). The university was founded in 1993 as the "Philosophical-Theological University of the Society of the Catholic Apostolate (Pallottines), in short: PTHV". In 2005 the sponsorship was reorganized between “Vinzenz Pallotti gGmbH Friedberg” and “St. Elisabeth gGmbH Waldbreitbach », who are now both shareholders of PTHV gGmbH. In 2009 a new basic order was drawn up and by the Roman Congregation for Education, the Diocese of Trier and the Ministry for Science, Further Education and Culture in Mainz as well as the University's Grand Chancellor, General Rector P. Friedrich Kretz , the university was renamed a Catholic University ("Universitas Catholica") with the company name “Philosophical-Theological University Vallendar Church and state-recognized independent scientific university”. The sponsor is the PTHV (Philosophical-Theological University Vallendar) gGmbH based in Vallendar.
