Savion Glover (born November 19, 1973 in Newark , New Jersey ) is an American tap dancer , actor and choreographer .

Life

Savion Glover started taking drum lessons at the age of four and took his first tap dancing lessons at the age of seven. He made his Broadway debut at the age of twelve as the lead actor on The Tap Dance Kid . In 1989 he had his first film role in Tap Dance . Here he taped and played alongside tap dance stars such as Gregory Hines and Sammy Davis Jr. From 1990 to 1995 he performed on Sesame Street . He became famous with the show "Bring in Da Noise, Bring in Da Funk" (1995), which ran on Broadway for a long time. Here he brought tap dance, whose musical focus was on jazz music for decades , with funk . In 1996 Glover worked with Prince and can be heard on his album Emancipation in the song Joint 2 Joint with tap dance. With the help of motion capture technology, Glover transferred his dance to the tapping penguin Baby Mumble in the animated film Happy Feet (2006) .
