The individual members were the Deejays Elephant Man , Harry Toddler , Boom Dandimite and Nitty Kutchie . They gave themselves the name Scare Dem Crew based on the single Big Guns Scare Dem by their patron Bounty Killer .

history

In the mid-1990s, the Jamaican Deejay Bounty Killer , who was and is known for promoting young musical talent, was looking for four young, male, individual deejays for a dancehall formation. The band's first name was Seaview Family . They chose the name because they all come from Kingston's Seaview Gardens district. The first single was released in 1995 on the Jamaican label Ghetto Vibes and was called "Fight War" . the band soon became popular throughout the Caribbean and after the great success of the single "Big Guns Scare Dem" from their mentor Bounty Killer, they changed their name to Scare Dem Crew . The group was known above all for its staccato -like toasting interrupted by the singing of the singer Nitty Kutchie. Live, the band stood out for their extremely flashy outfits, brightly colored hair and wild stage shows, in which they often climbed the spotlights or wandered through the audience. After disputes, Elephant Man left the band in 1999 and has since devoted himself to his extremely successful solo career. The other artists also started solo projects, which also went well, but did not come close to the success of E. Man. In 2008 rumors circulated that the band wanted to start a comeback , which the individual members denied.
