Flaw was one of the first Austrian Hip-Hop -Crews, the thrust in the media response.

history

The first beginnings came in 1991, when Milo (at that time still under the name Marimba ), operator Burstup (who originally saw his job more in producing on the computer; also written Böastab ) and Space Ant (today drum and bass DJ) to the ghetto Hip Hop Sound System joined forces. A little later the group was expanded to include DJ Megablast and MC Graffiti and was named Gainful Gallivants . The merger of Gainful Gallivants with the Illegal Movement (MC Flex and Masta Huda ) resulted in cosmetic defects (originally written cosmetic flaws ) a little later .

They were founded in Vienna in 1992 and released their first EP, Broj Jedan , in 1993 on their self-founded label Duck Squad . The label also helped the later very successful hip-hop groups Texta and Total Chaos to their first records.

In 1996 two albums were released under the name Putz di and Defect Comes . This was followed by massive airplay on Ö3 , who played the song Immer Nice Slow in particular , and on FM4 , where their track Boom - And Du Schaust Doom Aus Der Wasch was number one in the listener's hit parade.

In 1998, cosmetic defects toured Austria and Germany with the group Heinz from Vienna , which at the time was only called Heinz . The combination of the two different styles interested a large audience and gave an overview of the musical trends that prevailed in the Austrian capital at that time. However, some purists on both sides resented the collaboration between the bands. One result of the joint tour was the single Mein Ruf ist im Eimer , which presented these musical controversies in a humorous way.

In 1999 the band worked on the album SexDrugsAndHipHop , which should be completed in 2000. The long player entered the Ö3 Austria Top 40 in 20th place. In addition, the single Fuck You came 93rd in the German single charts . In 2001 she was nominated for the Amadeus Austrian Music Award .

In the nineties, cosmetic defects also created several vinyl and CD compilations with bands from the Austrian and sometimes German hip-hop scene. These albums were called The Yellow from the Egg (1995), The Yellow from the Egg 2 (1996), Boombap - Part 3 from the Egg (1998) and Boombap - Die Boombastische Vier (1999). Both established bands (such as Texta) and newcomers could be heard there.

In January 2005 the last blemish tour through Austria and Germany started. During their farewell tour in 2005, blemishes consisted of MCs Milo and (Peman) Paul and DJ operator Burstup. On February 18, 2005 the band gave their last concert in the Arena (Vienna) , followed by the breakup.

On June 27, 2015, after a ten-year break, there was an initially unique reunion gig at the Vienna Danube Island Festival .

Participation in films
