Langenschönbichl is a cadastral community of Langenrohr in Lower Austria and borders the district town of Tulln in the east and Zwentendorf in the west .

history

In the fishing village of Langenschönbichl, which belonged to the Liechtenstein lordship in Neulengbach , which is now based in Vaduz, the Count's House, which was later owned by the noble Count Wass de Czege, who came from a Hungarian-Transylvanian tribe, was built. It is not possible to determine exactly where the very flat village got the name "Langenschönbichl" from. It is probably called " Langen " Schönbichl because of its extension in length, Langen " Schönbichl " is probably called because of the " beautiful " Büchel (= poetic: Hügerl ⇒ Büchel is called in the old dialect as it was used in the Middle Ages, Bichl ) on western end of the village, which offered refuge during the earlier frequent floods (= the long village on the beautiful Bichl).

From 1874 to 1972 there was a single-class elementary school, which was attended by around 60 students per year.

After the Second World War , there was also a brick kiln which supplied the area with high quality bricks. During the war, the Moosbierbaum refinery ( Donau Chemie ) was bombed. The workers took shelter in the cellars of the village.

After the Second World War there were only 60 houses left, mostly farmhouses whose residents were often very large.

A Viennese dentist kept his ordination open on the weekend. There was also a theater association in Langenschönbichl, which performed funny and exciting pieces by the local population several times a year.

In two dairy houses, the farmers used to deliver the milk twice a day, which was brought to the railway in Tulln in a horse-drawn vehicle.

At that time there were:

2 general stores 2 taverns 2 blacksmiths and cart smiths 2 master shoemakers 1 ladies and gentlemen tailors 1 glazier 1 carpenter 1 mother-of-pearl turner

None of the above companies exist anymore. The elementary school was also relocated to Langenrohr .
