Location of Schönhorst in Schleswig-Holstein

Schönhorst is a part of the community Schönkirchen in the Plön district in Schleswig-Holstein .

history

The exact foundation of the place is not known. The first documentary mention took place in the context of a transfer of ownership of the village and Gut Schönhorst in 1515 to Duke Friedrich I. However, he did not keep the village for long and sold it a little later. In 1543 the village was owned by the Gadendorp family, from whom Christopher Gadendorp was involved in founding the Great Fire and Church Guild of 1560 - essentially to spread the burden of fire support after a fire among his subjects.

In 1616 the village and Gut Schönhorst were sold to the lords of Oppendorf , connecting the fate of both villages until they were incorporated into Schönkirchen .

In 1853 the bone fracture guild was founded for Schönhorst and the surrounding area, which grants its members support in the event of bone fractures and which continues to this day.

If the structure of the place had not changed over the centuries, after the lease agreement for the property had expired in 1929, most of the area was sold to a settlement company, which parceled out the property area in 15–20 hectares.

Flak tower

After the outbreak of World War II , a flak position with a bunker and accommodation barracks was built in Schönhorst to protect the Reichskriegsport in Kiel ; however, the local residents had no access to these facilities. Because of this flak position, Schönhorst was the target of intensive bombing (87 bomb hits on 16 ha).

The flak position was blown up on June 22, 1945.

The battery's accommodation barracks were used temporarily after the war to accommodate refugees and were demolished in the 1950s. In contrast to almost all places, no new building areas were designated in Schönhorst, so that the displaced people settled in other places.

By resolution of the representation of the municipality of Oppendorf, to which Schönhorst belonged, Schönhorst was incorporated into the municipality of Schönkirchen with effect from April 1, 1970 .
