The Kirchdorf Schönstein is a district of the municipality of Stallwang in the Lower Bavarian district of Straubing-Bogen .

The place is halfway between Stallwang and Zinzenzell , four kilometers from the main town of Stallwang, south of the SR 46 and north of the Schönsteiner Bach .

Schönstein forms a closed district . This covers the area of ​​the former municipality of Schönstein, which was incorporated into Stallwang in 1972 and was later considerably expanded to include the districts of the municipality of Zinzenzell, which was dissolved in 1978, and which were incorporated into Stallwang .

In terms of church, Schönstein belongs to the Catholic parish of Wetzelsberg in the Stallwang pastoral care unit .

In addition to the main town, the former community included the parish village of Wetzelsberg , the hamlets of Auersdorf , Steinernkreuz , Stützenbrunn and Weihermühl and the desert areas of Buchet , Hagmühl , Reichersdorf and Roßberg . Until at least 1871, but at most until 1885, the deserted Krieghaus belonged to the community of Schönstein.
