Schaeff is a brand for construction machinery with roots in Langenburg . The formerly independent company Karl Schaeff GmbH & Co. KG belonged to Terex Germany from 2002 to 2016 . Today it belongs to Yanmar and produces excavators and wheel loaders.
history
The company was founded in 1937 by Karl Schaeff as a repair shop for agricultural machinery . After the Second World War, the design and manufacture of attachments for construction machinery began at the Langenburg site in 1947. Technical innovations contributed to the company's success. Above all, the development of the Knickmatik technology, with which an excavator boom can be bent sideways by up to 90 degrees, gave the company a good market position. The company also produced wheel loaders , backhoe loaders and mini excavators . In 1985, Karl Schaeff GmbH & Co. took over Johannes Fuchs KG , based in Bad Schönborn, and continued it under the name of Fuchs Bagger . In 2002 the company was taken over by Terex Germany . In between, the company operated as Kaelble GmbH, based in Gerabronn . However, the brand name Schaeff is still used. In June 2016, Yanmar took over the European compact machine segment from Terex with the Crailsheim plant and the Rothenburg ob der Tauber logistics location. Since then, Schaeff has been operating as Yanmar Compact Germany GmbH.
