The Schafsiedel is a 2447  m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Kitzbühel Alps in Austria . It is one of the highest mountains on the ridge line of the Kitzbühel Alps.

About 500 m south of the summit is the Aleitenspitze ( 2449  m above sea level ), which is relatively easy to reach from the Schafsiedel.

Route to the summit

The most frequently used ascent route is the one from the Kurzen Grund in Kelchsau . The starting point at Gasthof Wegscheid ( 1148  m ) can be reached by car on a paved and toll road. There are numerous unpaved parking spaces right next to the inn.

The ascent takes place over a wooded ditch to the Neue Bamberger Hütte ( 1756  m ), where about 300 m further there is the junction to the Schafsiedel. The hiking trail then heads west to the lower Wildalmsee ( 1937  m ), where fishermen can often be found. We continue to the nearby middle Wildalmsee ( 2028  m ), the largest of the three lakes in terms of area. Shortly below the summit you finally reach the upper Wildalmsee ( 2324  m ), the highest lake in the Kitzbühel Alps .
