Schatzhofen is a part of the municipality of Furth in the Lower Bavarian district of Landshut . Until 1972 it formed an independent municipality.

location

Schatzhofen is located in the Hallertau on the Further Bach about one and a half kilometers west of Furth.

history

The Schatzhofen parish goes back as one of the oldest in the district to at least the 8th century. The place came through the donation of a noble Zontibold between 1034 and 1041 to the monastery Tegernsee , while the church remained in the possession of monastery Seligenthal . In 1439 the Urbar named a “Hub bei der Mühle” and four other farmsteads as ducal property. In 1464, Schatzhofen belonged to the Altdorf office at 32, in 1539 with 28 taxed persons , in which it formed an executive committee .

In 1752 it comprised 17 properties, three of which were owned by Seligenthal Abbey. The university forest in the south of the town still reminds of the nearby University of Landshut , which existed from 1800 to 1826 . At the end of the 19th century, the university , which had meanwhile moved to Munich , still had the right to appoint the pastor in Schatzhofen.

The community of Schatzhofen, formed at the beginning of the 19th century, employed almost 70 percent of all gainfully employed people primarily in agriculture and forestry. The 35 agricultural properties, mostly of medium size, were mostly farmed as main income. Hops cultivated six percent of the arable land .

From 1939 to 1970 the population of the community had decreased from 323 to 233, i.e. by almost 28 percent, and the main town of Schatzhofen itself only had 75 inhabitants. In the same period, the population of the neighboring community of Furth to the east increased by 74 percent , mainly due to the increasing number of commuters to Landshut .

From 1970 to 1972 the municipality realized the plan to build a weekend settlement a few hundred meters west and east of the town. The Am Enghof facility in the west comprises around 115 parcels, the Entwies area in the east around 25 parcels from 800 to 2500 m² in size. On January 1, 1972, the municipality of Schatzhofen was incorporated into the municipality of Furth as part of the regional reform in Bavaria . Since then, the sword of the patron saint of Schatzhofen, St. Michael, has also been found in the community seal .
