Scheidtweiler

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Scheidtweiler is a deserted area near Rommelsheim , a district of the municipality of Nörvenich in the Düren district , North Rhine-Westphalia .

The place was directly on the boundary to Jakobwüllesheim , in the Rommelsheim district on the coronation road that ran from Aachen to Frankfurt . Presumably there was also an inn here to entertain travelers.

Scheidtweiler was mentioned for the first time in 1237. At that time, the possession of Knight Ingramm von Bubenheim was handed over to the Counts of Jülich as a fief. After further changes of ownership, the hamlet came to the Steinfeld monastery in 1291 .

Scheidtweiler still existed in the 16th century. The name no longer appears on maps of the 18th century. Today there is an estate in the area , which maintains the name with its designation as Scheidtweilerhof .
