Anemonopsis macrophylla is a species of the buttercup family(Ranunculaceae). It is the only species in the genus Anemonopsis .

features

Anemonopsis macrophylla is a perennial, herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 60 to 100 centimeters. The species forms a rhizome . The leaves are twice to four times pinnate. The leaflets are ovate-lanceolate, 5 to 10 centimeters long and their edge is irregularly serrate or lobed. The flowers are arranged on long stems. They are nodding and 20 to 40 millimeters in diameter. The outer bracts are elongated to elliptical and stand almost horizontally, the inner bracts, on the other hand, are inverted and upright.

The flowering period extends from July to August.

Occurrence

The species occurs in Japan on Honshū in light, deciduous, humid forests.

Anemonopsis macrophylla is rarely used as an ornamental plant for groups of trees. It has been in culture since at least 1877.
