Scheppau is located immediately north of the Rieseberg . The Scheppau of the same name flows through the town from southwest to northeast . Scheppau belongs to the so-called Rundlings-Insel around the Rieseberg, in the middle of the 18th century the structure of the Rundlings was very easy to recognize.

The Evangelical Lutheran St. Nikolaikirche is located in the western area of the village. It is a small church with a half-timbered tower and belongs to the Königslutter provost of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Braunschweig .
