Scheuereck is a hamlet located 775 meters above sea level in the municipality of Lindberg at the foot of the Großer Falkenstein in the Regen district .

The area was cleared in 1734, starting with the Totenkädel shaft , and since 1771 has served the Lindberg farmers as an agricultural area. The first building was erected here in 1800. In 1828, district forester Rahner built two potash brewhouses at his own expense . The wood ash was cleaned at this collection point and processed into ash salt, which the glass factories needed.

In 1831, the first wooden forest service hut was built here, presumably on the foundation of one of the brewing huts, which was expanded in 1848 and an extension was added in 1858. In 1867 a forest worker moved into a small house below the service hut as a resident .

A simple beer tavern for the forest workers was set up in this house. In 1892 the stone forester's house was built. In the 20th century, the pub was expanded into an excursion restaurant.

After the renovation of the house in 1963, a deer enclosure was built next to it as a tourist attraction in 1968. When the Bavarian Forest National Park was expanded in 1997, the forester's house became the national park's office. The national park administration had the enclosure enlarged from just under five to nine hectares and a path built right through the enclosure. On October 6, 2007, the head of the National Park Administration, Karl Friedrich Sinner, opened the redesigned deer enclosure, which, as before, is occupied by ten to twelve red deer.
