Johann Peter Schiltenberger

Johann (es) Peter Schiltenberger (also Schiltberger ; * 1684 in Stadtamhof ; † February 11, 1759 in Kirchdorf ) was a German law scholar and university professor .

Life

Schiltberger comes by its own account of the sex of the Schilt Perger . He attended high school in Regensburg and then went to Ingolstadt University in 1709 . There he studied law in particular and was awarded a Dr. iur. PhD . After completing his studies, he initially worked as a lawyer in Regensburg , but left the city again in 1713 after the plague broke out there. During this time, the Ingolstadt law professor Johann Friedrich von Chardel , for whose position he applied, died.

On November 20, 1713, Schiltenberger was introduced to the Law Faculty of Ingolstadt University as an associate professor of criminal law and practice. Just one year later, in 1714, he was raised to the rank of full professor and appointed councilor . He later became a professor of digests and feudal law. During his time at the university he was its rector four times, namely in 1736, 1740, 1744 and 1750.

Schiltenberger suffered a stroke in 1755 from which he did not recover. In 1758 he went to Abensberg for a cure . When the desired effect did not take place here, he moved to Kirchdorf, where his brother was a pastor.
