Schitt's Creek is a Canadian television series based on the ideas of Eugene Levy and his son Daniel Levy . It premiered on January 13, 2015 on CBC / Radio-Canada . In Germany, the series has been available on TVNOW since December 12, 2018 . With the sixth season, the series ended in 2020.

The series follows spouses Johnny Rose ( Eugene Levy ), a wealthy video rental magnate, and Moira Rose ( Catherine O'Hara ), a soap actress, as well as their children David (Daniel Levy) and Alexis ( Annie Murphy ), who join her lose their entire fortune because their manager did not pay taxes on their behalf. They are forced to rebuild their lives with their only remaining resource: a small town called Schitt's Creek, which they bought as a gift and joke for their son a few years earlier for his birthday. There they are forced to live in two adjoining rooms in an aging motel . When trying to adapt their lives to the local conditions, their previous high lifestyle comes into conflict with the way of life of the local, much more down-to-earth urban population. They include the mayor of the city, Roland Schitt ( Chris Elliott ), his wife Jocelyn ( Jennifer Robertson ) and Stevie ( Emily Hampshire ), the owner of the motel.
