Battle cries in the Bundeswehr

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the various branches of the Bundeswehr , as in many other armed forces, traditional battle cries have prevailed, on the one hand as greetings and congratulations, as in other professional profiles (see Glück auf of miners) or in some sports (e.g. “Gut Holz " in bowling) are to be understood, on the other hand should also strengthen and express the corps spirit and the camaraderie of the troops.

use

Typical occasions for the use of a battle cry are appearing in a unit or association setting for promotions, honors, farewells and other special occasions.

Battle cries are repeated three times in a row, in that the military leader of the formation calls out the first part of the battle cry and then returns this together with the second part.

Battle cries in the army

( Italic = call from the superior ; normal = response from the troops) The official calls of the troop types have been specified again as military customs in the guide for maintaining tradition in the army of the inspector of the army from December 1, 1999.

NBC defense force " Fog  - Ahoy!" One of the tasks of the NBC defense force of the Bundeswehr is to provide support with smoke products. The fog troop used to be part of the artillery , was then spun off in 1936 and was transferred to the NBC defense force with the formation of the Bundeswehr. For the exclamation “Ahoi” see also: Ahoi .
Artillery force " To - same!" The call corresponds to the command for the joint loading activity of the group with heavy artillery.
Jägertruppe
armored reconnaissance troop
Gebirgsjäger-  or
Gebirgstruppe
Military Police
" Horrido - Joho!" For the greeting, which originally came from the hunt, see also under Horrido and the source for the battle cry of the hunters' troops (below).
Army Air Force " After - forward!"
High mountain fighters Hurray de Gams! "
Army anti-aircraft troops " Flak - fire!" The Army Air Defense Force has since been disbanded.
Airborne troops " Luck - off!" The congratulations / greetings originally come from the aviation industry and were first adopted in balloon flights and later generally in parachute jumping . (see also related terms to "Glück auf" )
Medical troops or medical service army or

" Raise - raise !" The call corresponds to the command to lift a wounded stretcher.
Telecommunications force " Telecommunication - lightning!" "Antenna - up!"
Army logistics force " Logistics - rolls!" Originally from the supply force with " Supply - rolls!"
Repair troop " Technology - Hurray! Hooray! Hooray!"
Panzergrenadier troop " Panzer Grenadiers - Turn! On it! Over it! " “Turn! On it! Over! "Means" go to the enemy, on the enemy, over the enemy ".

Pioneer troop " Anchor - Throw!" Like the bridge symbol, the anchor, which is also shown in many internal badges of the troops, is one of the typical symbols of the pioneer troop. The call derives from the command to throw anchor in boats (formerly rowing boats, today assault boats), amphibious vehicles and floating bridges of the pioneers.
Topography troop " Top - fit!" Today the topography troop is part of the geographic information service of the Bundeswehr
Armed forces base headquarters " Together - to the goal!"
