Trolling on Lake Brienz with lots of dogs

The trolling , also trolling or trolling called, is a fishing technique in which a bait is out behind the boat through the water. Simple tow lines can be used or the fishing lines can be attached to rods .

Trolling with a dog

In this variant, a float is attached to the end of the fishing line, which looks like a boat about 70 cm in length. This boat is known as a seal or dog . Several such dogs can be used on either side of the boat. The position of the fixed points for the lateral attachment of the pull line ensures that the dog does not move behind the boat while driving, but rather swings out to the desired side by the desired amount. The advantage is that a wide lane in the lake can be searched for tall fish. At the same time, the fish are not run over by the boat or scared away by it. The dog can also be set up like a small catamaran, it then has two runners.

Situation in Germany

In Germany trolling has become more popular only for some time and becoming increasingly popular. Not least from the USA and Scandinavia , this partly cost-intensive fishing method found its way into German waters.

In the meantime, clubs in Germany are also organizing events specifically for trolling.
