The Schlickerbach , also Schlicker Bach , is a wild brook in Tyrol ( Austria ), which rises in the municipality of Telfes in the Schlick and flows into the Ruetz in the municipality of Fulpmes . For centuries the Schlickerbach was feared because of its floods and the damage it caused in the local area of Fulpmes. In Fulpmes, the Schlickerbach was always used to generate energy for the local iron industry. When a devastating flood caused damage in Fulpmes again at the beginning of the 19th century, customers reached as far as Munich , and the Bavarian king organized a fundraising campaign that enabled the first white water barriers to be built on the Schlickerbach. This construction was managed by the then mayor of Fulpmes Michael Pfurtscheller . The construction of the Schlickerbach with a large barrier wall and a complete stream bed construction could only be completed in the 1990s.
In its upper course, the Schlickerbach now also ensures the water supply for Fulpmes and Telfes . The Schilckerbach is used to generate electrical energy.
